The Cabinet Re-Do

Photo credit...me. Yup, that's why it's so bad.
Here's my latest salvage endeavor (and yes...it has a story!)...

It was filled with old christmas junk...
It was half covered by chipmunk's sawdust, broken engine parts and stacks of magazines...
It was free...
But it was destined for greatness...
Or at least, that's what I thought!

I talked my dad into helping with the project (not like I had to twist his arm or anything...he loves this kind of stuff) while he and my mom visited a couple weeks ago.
It took us 2 days of working (for coats of paint to dry in between) and about 6 hours.
Yup. That's it.
And...drum roll please!

Sorry, I will have to post the final pictures later because our camera grew legs and walked off while we were at the zoo last week! Brutal.
But I love the final result and can't wait to share it with you!
Here's a little sneak peak...

The big 5!

Well, our darling "little" girl turned the big 5 this last week! I cannot believe I have a 5 year old...
For her cake she asked for a "teapot" cake.
And can it please be purple, she added.
Sigh. I had to try.

So here it is...she loved it. And I was quite pleased myself.
I baked the cake in my favorite Pampered Chef mixing bowl. Then flipped it over when it had cooled.
Then I made the handle & spout out of cardboard and frosted them to match!

Tah-dah!
Oh and the cute "topper"? Yup, it's a ring-pop. Saw it in the store and snatched it right up.
Purple Skittles made the "sweet" accents. And the cute label I also cut from cardboard and frosted to match...
You can do it too!

The big show!!!

Going to Farm Chicks this weekend!!!
I am so excited...
I feel like a little kid...
a little giddy and very, very happy!

Four of us are heading to Spokane this weekend. And we not only get to enjoy the show, but we get to visit our friend & her little baby girl. It should be a wonderful time!
I'll post pics and stories when we return!

Spring cleaning...

I found this post today and was convicted...thought I'd point ya'll in the same direction.  It's spring cleaning week over at Simple Mom and it was such a lovely idea, I thought I'd share the cleaning love.
What am I going to clean you might ask?  Hmmmmm.....don't quite know yet, but I'm sure it'll come to me. :o)

Enjoy and happy cleaning!

Another inspiration...

It snowed here yesterday...what??? My peonies were starting to shoot up through the soggy ground and now this? Ugh.  I am so ready for spring.

And I found some joyous inspiration to get me ready...

Thank you Country Living for brightening my snowy March day!

A little inspiration...

How cute can you get?
This made me think of my sister as her laundry room is a work in progress.  Thought you might like this Sus!  When I get a laundry room...I'm going for something like this.

Wire baskets, front loading machines & no dirty laundry...looks like a dream!

Something fun is coming...

Just found this lovely little blog and saw that they are having a show on March 13.  Looks like a fun one! So for all you local Oregon gals...this one's for you.

Check it out sis and tell me what you find!

And for all my Eastern Washington gals...check out this great blog (of course, because they are sisters!) and they're upcoming events.  Looks like May 14 and 15 are your dates.  Go for it!

Here we go!!!

My sister and I have always had a love of all things vintage.  In other words, we like old things.  We would like to take this opportunity to blame, I mean thank, our mother & father for our infatuation.  They are the reason we go to places like the Goodwill outlet (a.k.a "The Bins") for our birthday...they are why we like furniture that has chipping paint and broken hinges and why we do not hesitate to pull something out of the trash that just might be useful.  To us, those things have "potential".

We invite you to join us on our decorating journey.  We'll probably throw some gardening/flowerbed finds in there too...'cause we both love working in the dirt (thanks Mom!).  There also might be the occasional baby shower decor or a yummy recipe we recently tried out on guests (can we say thanks Mom again?!?)
And although we live apart, we still share ideas over the phone and share excitement at each other's latest "finds".  We just thought we'd bring you along for the ride, complete with pictures!
So won't you join us as we share our latest endeavors, (and heaven-forbid, failures) and highlight our favorite hot-spots in the Pacific Northwest.  We also promise to stay frugal and true to our salvage name ('cause Lord knows we don't have alot of money!)

Enjoy!!!
